Final day of point score racing for the annual Auckland regatta, the Jack Tar brought some magnificent sailing and conditions. The racing got away on time and brought three fast around the can races. The main event was the last race though, harbour course. We held in behind Icebreaker, however they did extend a little for the upwind, reaches. But, when it came to the downwind, we stacked in the back and just sended it. We averaged the best speeds we have had in the boat to date. Around the top mark Icebreaker rounded ahead by a few minutes. However, their lead was short lived when we came back together. Hooking into their wake the boat got very lively (wave jumping) and barreled to astern of them. They gybed out and we continued and by the bottom mark we were ahead. On the reach across to beam rock we were right on the edge to whole way wiping out once. We held the lead finishing first and what a way to end the regatta!

Big thanks to all the team for an awesome vibe and teamwork – Byron van Vugt, Matthew Hughes, Josh Wijohn, Matthew Steven, Livi Hamlin, Andrew Clarke and Luke Heslewood
