Last weekend the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and Bucklands Beach Yacht Club held the Jack Tar Regatta. Young Guns’ first regatta in New Zealand did not start well. There were moments of greatness but our two torn genakers (the A4 and A5) hung over us dampening the mood. Sunday however was much, much better. We had an each set of knowledgable hands and North Sails managed to repair one of our genakers overnight. We went out seeing the other side of our cards getting stronger through the day. In the end the conditions were challenging and we had not been able to prepare over the weeks before as the boat only got in the water on the Thursday, so some pretty good results in the end with a few firsts and seconds.
